PoP (Point of Presence)

A PoP is a physical location where physical networks are connected together. I think of it as a hub where multiple networks connect to each other, and very often there is a data center in close proximity. A PoP is an attractive location, because this is where you can have the lowest latency to end users in that geographic region. Services such as CDN’s (Content Delivery Networks) try to be in as many PoP’s as possible, because this will offer the bast service quality and it may also reduce their own cost (if adding a PoP lower the total network usage).
